Family tradition says Maria went to live with her uncle and aunt ( William
Bagnell) near Terrells Pass as a teen. Aunt Margaret, a semi-invalid, had
no children. When her aunt died, Maria decided to leave for America. about
1850-51 (to NYC). She traveled alone and tended children of Mrs. McGraw on
board ship. Stayed in NYC for short time then traveled on to Ohio to friends
and relatives. (Banks, her mother's maiden name.) Married in Ohio, Dec 1851.

Lodge Peerage, p. 249 - Arthur, the third Viscount, married Douglas, daughter
and heir to William Savage of Castle-Rheban, in the county of Kildare, esq.
but had no issue by her, who was interred at Monaster-Evan; secondly, in Dec,
1676, Anne, dau. of William Hawkins, esq aunt to the late Sir Andrew Owen,
Knt, who was drowned in a boat near Sutton, county Dublin; and by her, who
died 17 March 1702, had issue two sons and a daughter, vis. Edward, who died
young, Arthur, died 3 Sep 1699 and Jane married Charles, Lord Moore. "
