Rosse papers = Brothers, William and Lawrence Parsons, came to Ireland from
England about 1590 as pioneers in resettlement of Ireland after the wars of
the 16th Century. William became a Commissioner of Plantations, and the
Surveyor-General of Ireland, obtained large grants of land, mostly in
Wexford, and was created a Baronet in 1620. He was ancestor of the Richard,
Earl of Rosse of the first creation (1718) whose line died out in 1764.
